IMC Email Activation
Smartphones break, fall in toilets
and become obsolete. Either way, It’s not unusual to have to activate a new phone. Especially if you tend to go swimming with your iPhone.
Knowing this, I believe the time has come for an IT Tip about adding IMC email to your smartphone!
Knowing this, I believe the time has come for an IT Tip about adding IMC email to your smartphone!
As my uncle Ben once said, “With
great power, comes great responsibility.” (Yes, I am Spiderman. Cover blown.)
That phrase rings true when it
comes to putting IMC email on your cellphone. You must always remember that once
activated, your phone contains corporate data which must be protected. You will
be accepting the “IMC IT policy” when you activate your IMC email.
The IMC IT policy consists of the
following elements:
·
If the device is lost or stolen, you must notify
us immediately.
o
We will remotely wipe the device so no data can
be stolen (this applies even if it’s just lost and you don’t think it’s stolen).
·
When you are synchronized with the IMC server,
your device will require a lock pin.
o
The PIN is just a 4 digit code that you use to
unlock the device.
·
Your device will be encrypted (this will be
transparent to you).
Ok, Spidey.
How do I set up my email?
I told you about my secret
identity in confidence! Don’t blurt it out! Sheesh…
There are two sets of
instructions below; one for the iOS (iPhones) and one for Android. That is because iPhones and modern
Android devices are the platforms we have approved.
The instructions will have some
things surrounded by double asterisks (**). The asterisks indicate sections that
you will need to populate with your information.
The iPhone is much more
common (and simpler) so we’ll do that first.
From your iPhone:
·
Go to Settings.
·
Tap “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”.
·
Tap “Add Account...”
·
Tap “Microsoft Exchange”.
·
Enter your information:
o
Email:
**Your IMC email address**
o
Domain:
IREDALE
o
Username:
**Your IMC username (the username is your email without the @janeiredale.com)**
o
Password:
**Use the password that you use on your IMC computer**
·
Tap Next and wait a minute while it says “Verifying”.
·
The process will stop and another field called “Server” will appear.
·
Enter email.janeiredale.com in the “Server” field and tap Next.
·
Choose what you want to synchronize (mail;
calendars; contacts) and you’re done!
Next we’ll go over Android.
First, as I mentioned earlier, iOS is simpler than Android.
Android comes in many flavors and as such, these instructions may not be
exactly what you see on your device. Regardless, the information from the steps
below will be all you need. The order that to enter the information may just be
a bit different.
From your Android
Phone:
·
Go to Settings.
·
Tap “Accounts and Sync” (or just “Accounts”).
·
Tap “Add Account”.
·
Choose “Microsoft Exchange”.
·
Enter your information:
o
Email:
**Your IMC email address**
o
Password:
**Use the password that you use on your IMC computer**
·
-Upon tapping Next you will be prompted to enter
more information:
o
Domain\username:
IREDALE\**Your IMC username (the username is your email without the
@janeiredale.com)**
o
Password:

o

calendars; contacts)
